Gratitude Over Hope

Renate ~ LightSoul Holistic

Introduction
In moments of uncertainty, we often lean on hope to carry us forward. Yet, there is a quieter, more grounded power that steadies the heart, gratitude. It doesn’t wait for tomorrow to bring peace; it finds it, here and now.

Gratitude Over Hope

Hope looks to the horizon
a shimmering light of what might be.
It leans forward, waiting for tomorrow’s grace,
for the storm to pass,
for something or someone to arrive.

Gratitude stands in the now.
Barefoot. Rooted.
It feels the earth as it is
the small breath of this moment,
the quiet heartbeat beneath the noise.

Hope can be fragile,
a candle flickering in the wind of uncertainty.
But gratitude
it is the fire itself,
steady and self-fed,
burning with the knowing
that what is
is already enough.

Hope says, “One day, things will be better.”
Gratitude whispers, “Even now, there is beauty.”
And in that whisper, peace begins.

When we live in gratitude,
we no longer chase healing
we become it.
The world softens,
and the present moment
imperfect, unpolished, and real
becomes a blessing
we can finally see.

Closing reflection:
Gratitude isn’t just about what we lack. It’s the calm acceptance that, while we wait, we are already complete. Gratitude shows us that each breath, each sunrise, and every kind act is a quiet miracle. When we choose to notice, we start to live in wonder, not in waiting.

  1. I loved the poem and very much agree with your thoughts. Life always has its ups and downs but with gratitude we learn to appreciate what we have instead of focusing on what we don’t. I’ve also realised that true happiness and satisfaction are only achievable with gratitude otherwise no matter how much we have we’ll never feel fully fulfilled.

Great poem! Showing gratitude is fundamental.

  3. It is easy sometimes to get lost in our problems and sorrow, and in the worries if or when things will improve. It is good to be reminded of what we should be thankful for, as it is SO much!

    1. Insightful comment, thank you!
