Anchored below, Luminous within

Daily writing prompt
When are you most happy?

I am most happy in the moments when attention softens and everything begins to speak at once.

It begins at my feet. Awareness sinks down into the soles, where warmth gathers like a quiet greeting. The ground responds. There is a living pressure beneath me, a mutual recognition. From the arches, roots unfurl slowly, deliberately, threading through soil, stone, and deep memory. They do not ask permission. They spread because that is their nature, carrying the love that I am, steady and unapologetic, into the body of the planet itself. Gravity becomes an embrace. I am held.

The ankles soften. The calves release their long vigilance. The legs no longer work to keep me upright; they are supported from below. I am not hovering above life. I am standing inside it.

From this anchoring, a warmth gathers low in the body. The pelvis becomes a luminous sun, pulsating with life and ancient wisdom. A slow, rhythmic pulse begins to travel upward, uncoiling the spine vertebra by vertebra, reminding the body of its original ease. Breath deepens without effort. The belly softens. The body feels inhabited again.

The chest opens as if a long-sealed window has finally been unlatched. Air feels textured, almost drinkable. With each inhale, the heart grows rounder, less defended. There is a gentle pressure behind the sternum, a sense of being held from the inside. Gratitude arises here, not as a thought, but as a quiet, reassuring weight, like warm hands resting over my heart.

In the throat, words loosen their grip. Sound becomes optional. Silence thickens into something nourishing. The jaw unclenches. The face settles into its true shape. Even the eyes seem to breathe, receiving light without reaching for it.

Then the mind shifts. Thoughts no longer crowd or perform. They drift like clouds that know they are not the sky. Awareness widens. Time loosens its grip. Meaning is no longer hunted; it arrives on its own, subtle and complete.

In these moments, happiness is not excitement or pleasure. It is coherence. Feet rooted in the earth, heart open to breath, mind resting in spacious clarity. Body and awareness are in quiet agreement. Nothing needs to be fixed. Nothing is missing.

This is where happiness lives for me.
When I am anchored below, luminous within, and gently awake to the whole.

  1. I love your description of it. This is what I believe true happiness is. It doesn’t come from stuff but rather an internal feeling that lights us up.

    1. Yes, Yes! Thank you!

      1. You’re most welcome!
