Embracing Consciousness: The Human Experience

Musing about consciousness, the brain, the subjectivity of being human and modern technology turned into the reflection below…it is truly the greatest experience to be human, and I wish it could always serve the greatest good for humankind!

In the quiet folds of the mind,
Where thoughts stir like ripples in the sea,
Consciousness awakens
A flicker of awareness in the boundless expanse of being.
It is the observer and the observed,
The moment that witnesses itself.

Philosophers speak of it,
The nature of the self
Some say it’s born in the brain’s labyrinth,
A product of circuits, of sparks, of cells.
Others argue it is far more ancient,
A current that flows through time and space,
Not bound by the body, but ever-present,
A silent symphony, echoing through the ether.

And yet,
Even as the world seeks to measure it,
To capture it in data points,
In algorithms that simulate our minds,
Consciousness slips through the fingers,
Like light through a cracked window.
For it is not just the thoughts we think,
Nor the muscles we move,
But the feelings we live,
The raw texture of experience
This is the irreplaceable part of you.

Feelings are intricate
Not mere chemical reactions,
But the language of the soul,
A dance of energy,
Flowing through the body,
Writing its story on the skin of our lives.
In joy, we are light,
In grief, we are the earth, heavy and deep.
In love, we soar
In fear, we retreat into ourselves.

Yet technology watches,
Recording the beats of the heart,
The ebb and flow of brainwaves,
It reads the signs,
But cannot feel the story behind them.
A machine can track the pulse,
But cannot grasp the essence of joy,
Or the bitter taste of loss.
It cannot know the quiet spaces
Where the heart and mind meet,
Where you breathe in the world and feel alive.

And so,
While the world may chase the what and the how,
The true magic lies in the why
In the moments that cannot be replicated,
In the stories that live in the spaces between our breaths.
It is in the vulnerability of your lived experience,
The beauty of being,
That makes you irreplaceable.
For no technology, no implant, no algorithm,
Can ever replicate you
Your consciousness,
Your feelings,
Your unique dance through the world.

You are the irreplaceable amazing You,
Not just data,
Not just flesh and bone,
But a river of awareness,
Flowing through time and space,
Ever-changing, ever-feeling,
A masterpiece of consciousness,
In the form of a human being.

  1. As I was reading this, I imagined it as a choral reading presented dramatically to a group. The content is clearly and poetically expressed, and I think it is a timely reminder that the self and all selves are neither chemical nor machine but precious in our true combinations and perceptions. I like this work of yours a great deal.

  3. That line about a machine tracking the pulse but not feeling the story… I had to stop there for a second.

Because that’s exactly it. We’re getting so good at measuring everything, but the actual experience of being human still slips through.

    Really loved that part.

    1. Thank you for your comment Vidisha, really appreciate it. All knowledge comes from God and no amount of measuring can capture the spirit that makes up the human experience.💜

  4. So profound to read this, yes they can weaponised technology against us but they can’t actually understand the human experience in its fullness and that is a Amen to God Almighty…
