Birthing a Soul’s Journey

Daily writing prompt
Share one of the best gifts you’ve ever received.

The best gifts I’ve ever received
came wrapped not in ribbons, but in heartbeats,
in the warmth of tiny hands curled tight around mine.

Before them, I was a feather
drifting on a wind I did not yet understand,
blown here and there by forces unseen,
unsure of my place in the vastness of the sky.
I thought I was lost
but then I became a home.

It began when their heart first beat inside me,
a pulse, steady and strong,
whispering to me in the silence of my body,
you are more than you knew you could be.

Every movement, every flutter,
a message of change
that carried me into the depths of myself,
reaching into spaces I had not yet explored,
stretching me, molding me
into the vessel I was meant to be.

And when my first child was placed in my arms,
the world stopped,
and in that breathless moment,
I knew:
I was the earth beneath their feet,
the air that filled their lungs,
the hands that would lift them,
guide them, hold them.

In their eyes, I saw the universe
vast and full of possibility,
and I, in turn, became the universe to them.
A space to grow, to learn,
to be witnessed in all the wonder of their becoming.

Through them, I found my place
not as a drifting feather,
but as a root, deep in the soil of existence,
anchored in the present,
held by the responsibility of love,
and the grace of nurturing another soul.

They are the mirrors to my own becoming,
the reflection of my strength,
my fragility,
my resilience,
my love,
woven into the tapestry of their lives,
each day I bare witness
to the miracle of who they are,
and who I have become.

Mother, child, endless love
a powerful and humbling experience
that stretches beyond time into infinity.

And in this dance of life,
with every step,
every laugh,
every tear,
we create something greater than ourselves
a love that transcends time,
a bond that is unbroken,
and a soul that is whole,
for we are both gift and giver,
forever bound in the beauty of this shared journey.
